Thursday 12th September 2019 was a day of mixed emotions for the employees of Shorts.
After years of planning and months of hard work, Shorts were able to officially celebrate their move to bigger and better premises. The day also saw the retirement of longstanding Managing Director, Paul Welsby after 26 years of service.
Officially opening the building was the Lord Mayor of Bradford, councillor Doreen Lee, Shorts’ Group Chairman, Donald Fothergill, alongside incoming Managing Director, Robert Sykes and Shorts staff new and old.
After the ribbon cutting ceremony the Lord Mayor was toured around the building and shown the array of products and services which Shorts provides and given details of what future developments are in store.
Councillor Lee was also introduced to apprentice, Calum Heywood, who has recently joined Shorts’ apprenticeship scheme.
After the tour all guests and staff were invited to enjoy in a drink’s reception together. During the reception the Shorts Team were able to surprise and present Councillor Lee with a cheque to support The Lord Mayor’s Appeal in aid of Child Bereavement UK and The Pot of Gold Appeal.
